'We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them' We are Scottish based suppliers of renewable energy products , specialising in solar water heating. We offer excellent quality solar water heating products, which are amongst the most efficient and best value in Europe. In addition, we supply solar water heating systems which contribute to your central heating as well as your hot water. We are also members of the Scottish Solar Energy Group (SSEG). We also offer a full design service for solar water heating systems. Based in Central Scotland we are within easy reach of most areas in Scotland and can meet you to discuss your solar water heating requirements.
Rensus was established by qualified engineers and as such, it is our underlying principle to offer the most efficient and affordable systems possible. To find out more about our team see the 'ABOUT US' section. 1000 square metres of the solar panels we supply are sold in Europe every day!! The flat panel solar water heating panels we supply were tested to be the one of the most efficient in Europe (ISFH 2001). Furthermore, there are 600,000 square metres of our German manufacturers' panels installed around the world, equating to a saving to date of 240 million litres of heating oil. Their headquarters (pictured below) is the first passively heated office block in Europe. It uses a large buffer tank (seen protruding from the roof) and a large panel surface. The resulting energy consumption is around 10% of that of standard offices.
We work closely with architects, contractors and of course consumers in order to promote the use of renewable energy and sustainable building products in both new builds and renovations. We offer design and installation services for large solar water heating projects including; swimming pools, community centres, hotels, apartment blocks, hospitals and schools. Have a look at our services section for examples of large scale solar water heating projects using the products we supply.

The picture above was taken on the 11th of January in Stirling, Scotland. The air temperature in the shade was -1 deg C and the ground was covered with frost. The panel reached an incredible 52 deg C whilst heating the water. Many people have the misconception that the air needs to be warm for the panels to work but this isnt true. Another example of the sheer power of the sun in Scotland during the winter months was recorded on the 19th February, 2008. By 11am, the hot water cylinder had been fulled heated and the panel was in 'stagnation'.This means that the fluid which circulates around the solar loop was not being pumped. As a result, the stationary fluid in the panel reached a temperature of 144.5 deg C !!!! The air temperature outside was 14 deg C. Solar water heating does work in Scotland!! |
